Goddess Outreach Gathering - On Friday, October 16, the Goddess Gathering hosted its first Outreach Gathering with the women of Beyond Shelter (www.beyondshelter.org).
Thanks to all of my amazing Goddess sisters who donated their time and co-facilitated this special Gathering with me. The women in attendance are dealing with varying levels of homelessness. The topic was "Possibility Begins With Belief" and we encouraged them to DREAM and see past their current circumstances. The conversation that ensued was inspiring, thought-provoking, and transformational. We supported them as they began to create the reality they truly desire by declaring it into existence. We were so touched by these brave women and know that the dreams they shared with us WILL come true.

"Empower A Woman, Empower The World"
Natural Hair Workshop - On Saturday, October 10, Tomiko held a "Natural Hair Workshop" at her home. This workshop was led by our very own Goddess Felicia. Felicia is versed in working with all types of hair, but she specializes in natural hair. We were lucky to have such a skilled stylist share her tips with us.
I know we all left with not only knowledge on how to style and adorn our hair, but with a renewed sense of pride in our natural locks. Thanks Felicia!!!

After the workshop, we took a field trip to see Chris Rock's documentary "Good Hair". We laughed, gasped, and had a great time!!!

Goddess Gathering - September 26, 2009 - Los Angeles
My intention for this Gathering was FUN and boy did we do that!!! After a spirited "Non-Verbal Introductions" game (the Goddesses were paired up and instructed to "tell" each other details about themselves by miming or drawing - Hysterical!), we opened the floor up for REAL TALK. The ladies were asked to submit one question and one statement. The insight, emotions, and hilarity that followed was just what we all needed. We were allowed to safely ask questions that we may not have felt comfortable asking of others. We were encouraged to share things about ourselves that we may have thought were different or odd. But, what we ALL learned is that we have more in common as women than we think. I cannot thank all of the courageous Goddesses in attendance for sharing of themselves so freely. I am also so touched by the love and support that the women in this group continue to share with each other. It's truly breath taking.
We also blessed one of our Goddess sisters who is close to delivering her first baby. One by one, we gave her a flower and loved on her in our own unique way. Some hugged her, some rubbed her belly, some rubbed her shoulders and some offered words of wisdom. She was blanketed with Goddess love and light.
This month's Empowerment is to create an "I AM" Daily Journal. Everyday this month, preferably when you first wake up, write down 5 "I AM" statements. These statements should only be positive and uplifting. You may speak the truth of who you are now or the you that is emerging. For example, " I AM Courageous", " I AM Prosperous", "I AM Loved".
Be bold and think big! See how many different "I AM" statements you can come up with this month.

The Goddess Gathering's One-Year Anniversary Party - 2004

The afternoon will include a delicious brunch, a celebrity guest speaker, "Goddess Honors" (that's right, we're honoring several of our Goddess sisters - you never know, it just might be YOU), a live DJ, a special performance by some of your Goddess sisters, a musical guest, gift bags, and a few more surprises. The attire for the brunch is Classy Casual in the Goddess Gathering colors - fuchsia, yellow, and/or orange. So you have plenty of time to get your celebration outfit together. Be Shiny, Goddesses!!
The cost to attend is $55. This brunch celebration will replace our normal monthly Gathering and I really hope that ALL of you will attend. I am so proud of all of you and the empowered ways you are living your lives. Come and be acknowledged and celebrated for the beautiful Goddess that you are.
You are encouraged to invite all of your female friends and family members to attend as well. Invite your mother, your sister, your best friend, your neighbor and/or your co-worker. Invite all of the special women in your life that you want to share this supportive sisterhood with. We have room for 100 women and we want to pack the house!! This will be the PERFECT opportunity to show them exactly what the Goddess Gathering is all about and pay your empowerment forward. : )
I'd also like to extend a personal invitation to our "O.G.s" (original Goddesses). You know who you are! : ) Come back and celebrate the movement you helped create. We miss you and want you back in the sacred circle. Once a Goddess, always a Goddess!! And if you live outside of Los Angeles, this is a great reason to fly in for a visit!!!
In light of the current economy, we are offering an "Early Bird Special" on the price of tickets. All RSVPs received between now and November 1st will pay the discounted price of $45.

After November 1st, the price to attend the celebration will be $55.
If you have merchandise you'd like to sell or a business to promote, you may be eligible to do so at the Anniversary Brunch. You will be required to pay a nominal table rental fee (which will include ad space promoting your business in our program) and meet our eligibility criteria in order to be considered. For an additional fee, your business will be promoted on our newsletter during the month of November (with a circulation of close to 1000 women across the country and beyond). We anticipate 100 or more attendees, and this will be the perfect venue to promote your business to your Goddess sisters.
We are limited to 8 vendor tables at this venue. Please send an email to our Director of Operations, Ailia, at ailia@tomikosgoddessgathering.com for more information. The deadline for vendor registration is October 26, 2009.
December 19, 2009 - Holiday Party - Join your Goddess sisters at this very special Holiday celebration! In addition to the joyous festivities, all of the Goddesses declare their intentions for the new year. There is nothing more powerful than doing this in the company of your Goddess sisters. We hear your vision and we support you in achieving it. That's reason enough to attend this Gathering. : )

On Tuesday, September 8th, I hosted my very first Goddess Gathering in London. It was amazing!!!
Though we were small in number, we were large in Goddess Empowerment! The ladies that attended the Gathering were warm, funny, nervous, and courageous. Thanks to all of my new Goddess sisters in London for taking part in this premiere Gathering. I will be back very soon! That's a promise.

Childcare Now Available At The Goddess Gathering!
We are happy to announce that childcare is now provided at the Goddess Gathering.
We have secured a licensed childcare professional to take care of the children while the Gathering is taking place. Geney Warner from "Geney's Little Blessings, Curriculum Based Family & Child Care" will be taking care of the children in a room right next door to where the Gathering is taking place. They will receive a light snack and be entertained by such things as educational DVD's and/ or movie, story time, and game playing.
The cost is $20 per child. This will cover your child's care by the licensed professional, a snack and entertainment for the duration of the Gathering, (1:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.). Please note, there must be a minimum of 3 children to be able to provide this service. Goddess Moms may contact our Event Coordinator, Ailia Coley-McKinney, directly to reserve a spot for their child/children at events@tomikosgoddessgathering.com. Please be prepared to provide the name and age of each child and any special instructions or dietary needs.
A minimum of 3 children are needed to confirm Ms. Warner's services. We require all requests be received by October 17, 2009 for our October 24th Gathering.

October 16, 2009 - Goddess Gathering Outreach Program - The Goddess Gathering is bringing its unique brand of women's empowerment to the women at Beyond Shelter. Beyond Shelter was founded in 1988 in response to the growing number of homeless families in Los Angeles and the need for a more comprehensive approach to serving them. Today, Beyond Shelter's mission is to develop systemic approaches to combat poverty and homelessness among families with children, and to enhance family economic security and well-being.
Tomiko, along with several of her Goddess sisters, will host a very special Goddess Gathering for these women as they work to transform their lives.

October 24, 2009 - Co-Ed Goddess Gathering - It's that time again, ladies! Time to bring that special fella in your life to a Gathering. : ) For those of you that haven't had the pleasure of attending our Co-Ed Gathering, you are in for a treat. The guys ALWAYS arrive terrified ("Are they gonna make me cry?") and ALWAYS leave wanting to start a group of their own. I'm not kidding. It's pretty cute. : )
My husband co-hosts with me and we have a great time. You are allowed to bring one male guest of your choosing (husband, brother, co-worker, mailman) with you. You do not have to bring a male guest to attend. Many Goddesses attend solo as well. All males guests are required to pay the $25 fee as well. As always, space will be limited, so RSVP as soon as possible. RSVPs for this Gathering are now being accepted on our website. Mark your calendars and think about who you'd like to invite as your guest.
And if that wasn't enough, we will have an "After Gathering Party" at the lovely BLVD 16 (bar/lounge/restaurant) at Hotel Palomar where our monthly Gatherings are held. You are encouraged to invite all of your friends (male and female) to join us. Special Guest DJ - DJ RELL will keep the vibe grown and sexy. : ) You don't want to miss this one.
